Influences on society
The Aztecs influenced todays life greatly. Aztec customs are still used in todays modern life. The Aztec were very independent, they all had jobs or went to school. The Aztec were the first society that required education for all its children, without regard of gender or social status. Which showed the modern world we are all equal. Other ways the influenced todays world is by their diet, recreation, their arts and trade.
Their diet consisted of maize, beans and squash to which were often added chilis, tomatoes, crickets, maguey worms, ants, larvae, etc. Many recepies are still used today and benefit us greatly with the vitamins and nutrients they provide.
The Aztecs daily Recreation sport was a ball game called Tlachtli. Today we have taken this game and formed many ball games such as games like soccer and football.
There are also a few traditions that are still being carried out around the Mexican and Spanish regions of South America. One of these influences is food and gastronomy. The Aztecs domesticated crops and raised animals such as the "Mexican hairless" dog and the turkey bird. They also included in their menu, items such as tortillas, pozole, cocoa and tamales.
Another influence in modern day Mexico is through the culture and traditions. A few things that have been influenced by the Ancient Aztecs are; the Mexican coat of arms, the huipil clothing, huarache footwear, a mixed tradition with the Spanish conquistadores now known as Day of the Dead (November 1-2). Music, dance and plastic arts have also many influences from Aztec culture

The Mexican Flag
The coat of arms, in the middle of the flag, is derived from an Aztec legend that their gods told them to build a city where they spot an eagle on a nopal eating a serpent, which is now Mexico City.
